Can You Hear Me Now? How To Choose A Cell Phone Company

Picking the best cell phone company for your personal use is no longer an easy proposition. With literally dozens and dozens of different companies all competing for your cell phone dollars, it's hard to decide which service is the best.

There are a few things consumers can consider to help make the cell phone company choice a little easier, however. These include:

  • Pricing. This is one of the biggest reasons many choose the cell phone companies they have. Cheaper pricing plans are available and there are even advanced pay options to take away all the hidden charges. Look at several things when looking at pricing to be certain you're getting the best. You want to go with a flat-rate service, if possible, if you intend to use a lot of minutes. This means a single monthly fee no matter how much or how little you use your phone. Otherwise, consider plans that offer decent pricing and fair amounts for per minute charges if you go over.
  • Network availability. A cellular phone company that offers a great deal on a monthly plan is a fantastic buy, but make sure the phone works in your area. It's important to understand the local network before you buy in. Some people find their great choice has them paying roaming charges five minutes from their own house. Ask about service areas, towers and black out spots.
  • Reliability. A cell phone company that doesn't have a good infrastructure backbone could be a big mistake no matter the pricing plan. Be certain yours offers good service and has the technology to back it up.
  • Extra features. A good cell phone company will offer top-notch local and long distance service, but an extraordinary one will have lots of side perks, too. Be certain, however, that the side perks don't come before the main features - reliability and service. Side benefits commonly offer include: Internet access over the phone, text messaging, specialized ring tones, video games, camera abilities and more. The bells and whistles offered by cell phone companies today can be amazing, but make sure your phone does what it's supposed to before you worry about an MP3 player!
  • Easy to understand contracts. A lot of smaller companies and even some of the bigger ones have contracts that are so difficult to understand, buyers don't know what their getting into. Make sure the contracts you're given are clear and you fully understand the terms before signing.
  • Servicing options. A cell phone can be a big purchase, and good cell phone companies stand behind the phones they offer. Check into servicing options offered by the different companies you're considering before you buy in. Replacement phones, insurance and other options should be offered.

A cellular phone is almost a necessity in today's world. Getting a good phone company, however, can be difficult. The best way to ensure a good one is chosen is to review the options carefully, consider pricing and service, and be certain you're not buying into something you can't afford. Some cell phone companies say they offer good plans, but when the monthly bills arrive, they're staggering. Research and compare before choosing a cell phone company.

I went to interview at geek squad last week and they offered me a job on the spot. I accepted the job and they put me in for orientation and I even got the drug test taken..now two days after that I had an interview with Sprint for a very nice job position and the next day i got a job offer from them as well..I definitely want the sprint job so how do i call Best Buy and say no to them when i am technically already their employee and they think ill be there for my orientation tomorrow..i am confused :( In the mean time i want to refuse the job in a way that if i need to go back to them in the future they will hire me again..maybe it's selfish of me but i still want to do that...any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Opinions please :) Which job do you think we should take?
My husband has got 2 job offers - one as a massage therapist (which he went to school for during the last year) and the other for customer service with Sprint (which is what he is comfortable with). The massage job pays 16.00 an hour plus tips - but we will have to provide our own liability insurance, probably pay more for medical insurance and get licensed in the city they are in (25.00). For this job there is no guaranteed hours - but it is looking that long as they are busy it will be about 35 hours a week or so. The Sprint job is technical customer service for cellular customers - and he has years of experience working as both a CSR and manager for Cingular and AT&T wireless. The benefits will be excellent and start in 30 days, but the pay is quite a bit lower @ 12.00 an hour. If he did this job he would be able to do massages for private clients on the side and work on building a private practice. He will work 40 hours per week. I guess the issue is stability vs money now.

Can I get fired for not putting my previous employer on my application after just being hired?
In 2009 the company I worked for laid off about 800 people and I was one of them. I was on unemployment until January of this year until I got a call center job at Sprint. I had the call center job for two and a half months and was let go from there as were many others. Last week I went on an interview for a job that is government related and found out that I got the job. Before I officially was working there they told me that they were going to have to do a couple background checks on me first I passed both of them. Now that I'm there they fingerprinted me and are doing an F.B.I. background check on me. I'm not a criminal and have never been in trouble with the law for anything. I'm a little worried because on my application I didn't put down that I worked at Sprint but everything else is correct. My question is will they tell me since I didn't put down the Sprint job will they fire me? Just some additional details the job that I'm now employed at is not exactly a government job more like a company that runs contracts for the government such as collects data on statistics and such, we could do anything depending on the contract. I think that they are just being very thorough in checking their employees because of the type of job it is. I got worried because one of the parts for the FBI check wanted to know about my previous employments and I had to put down everything but the Sprint job because of my application. Honestly though I think that they are only concerned about criminal or suspicious activity as opposed to a job that I didn't put in my resume, besides they did 2 background checks before this one so I would assume that it would have already popped up anyways, right?
