Where is the best place to live/ what is the cost of living in Ireland?
A couple of good friends and I are seriously considering moving to Ireland. I've looked at a couple of websites about the cost of living there but they're outdated and I'd like to know about how the economy is at the present. I'd like to hear from persons who currently live there and would greatly appreciate it if you could break everything up into "accomodations", gas prices, groceries, cell phones/ best cellular service providers, heat/electricity, internet/internet providers, television providers/cost of service, et cetera. Also, any suggestions as to where we should live? Feel free to tell me how to go about moving there as well. I read something about needing a work permit to move to the country and you have to be living/working there for at least five years to apply for citizenship. Please explain the process in your answer. I'd much rather read it all in Layman's terms than be linked to a website- so, please, no links (unless absolutely necessary). Thanks in advance! We basically have a five year plan to save money and make a trip over for vacationing (or holiday, as you guys put it) purposes to better get a feel for the decision. I definitely understand that any jobs would first be offered to the Irish and, I figure, if we post early enough, we may get an offer in a few years. This is nothing we expect to do right away but it's definitely something we want to do in the future. I appreciate you explaining that to me, though. Also, it's not a surprise to me that the economy is bad. We've been suffering from that in the US as well. I pretty much anticipated it, honestly. I'm hoping the economy might begin to improve while we wait for any job offers we might get- though, I'm not holding my breath over it. To answer the first response: yes, we have newspapers in the US, but I don't generally follow the news. Plus, because the US is so self-absorbed, we generally don't hear much about the financial state of other countries unless we'd been dir We basically have a five year plan to save money and make a trip over for vacationing (or holiday, as you guys put it) purposes to better get a feel for the decision. Sorry about the stupidity that is my cellular device. >.<
