I want a cell phone and a walkie talkie in one, is there such a thing?
I like to use my cellphone, and I like to use my walkie talkie.
But I hate carrying the two around. So I'd like to buy for the holidays something that can do both things. I can put my SIM card in, and use it as a phone when I want. I can also use it as a walkie talkie when I want. I'd like good walkie talkie range, channels, and privacy features.
So, does something like this exist? I was looking everywhere for it and I can't find anything. I'd assume cell phone companies wouldn't be in a hurry to make these since people would use the walkie talkie feature for calling close people, and the cell phone service providers would lose money... Well too bad for them!
Also, I don't want a "virtual" walkie talkie, nor a PTT app or something. I just want a device that I can use to talk to other plain walkie talkies in my area with. These are both old technologies, there should be no problem merging them into one device.
Thanks Cat, but that isn't what I'm looking for. I want the device to be able to communicate directly with nearby walkie talkies. I don't need any unlimited distance thing, I want to bypass the provider and cell phone towers entirely, for local direct, free communication. But thanks for answering, if nothing else comes up i'll check it out!
Looks like you guys were right, that is what I want afterall. Buuut... I should have mentioned that I am in canada, and I'd want a phone that can work with a sim card. I called sprint, and they said the phone will not work outside of USA, and doesn't work with a sim card. Any other suggestions?

Ladies, please answer this question for me....?
Scenario:
A young couple (in their twenties) moved into a neighborhood a little over a year ago. They live next door to a divorced womanizer who will stop at nothing to get practically any woman to sleep with him. Needless to say, he had his sights on the young wife from the moment they became neighbors.
He would casually flirt with her during any brief moment that they were alone together (ie..going to work, getting mail from the mailbox, etc..). Eventually, the "womanizer" and the young wife officially began an 18-month affair without her husband's knowledge.
The husband discovered the affair when he used her phone to make a call and received a text from the neighbor telling her to " come over when the idiot (him) leaves for work". He was heartbroken to realize that his wife has been doing something so despicable behind his back (Note: a call to the phone service provider revealed a complete history of the affair).
When he confronted his wife about her unscrupulous behavior, her initial reaction was to deny the entire affair (claiming that they're just friends). However, after the husband showed her the evidence, then she knew that she was caught red-handed. He was really upset because they were currently trying to conceive a child together. When he began to ask her some tough questions about the affair and her intentions, then she started to withdraw and claim that she didn't know "why" she was cheating on him.
Ladies, please answer these questions:
1) Was she really trying to conceive a child with her lover? or her husband?
2) At this point, was she simply using her husband strictly for financial reasons especially since she's been getting her physical and emotional needs met by the neighbor?
3) If you were related to the betrayed husband, then what advise would you give to him?
4) If you were related to the cheating wife, then what would you say to her?
Thanks for your response.

Can I buy 3G internet on a smart phone without a phone calling plan?
I really want a smart phone. And I really want my cell carrier to provide the 3G data to it. But I also really like my regular phone as a phone (great battery life, for one thing). Are there any cell phone service providers that would allow me to have both my old phone and a smart phone. Any calls/texts I receive or make would go through my old phone. But I could also carry a smartphone around with me for Internet and stuff?
Is there anything like that out there? It's a pretty crazy, unique idea. But wireless carriers already sell Internet plans that can be used in laptops (usually requiring an antenna+networkCard plugged into the laptop).
Also, please don't reply "No" or "I don't know" because I'm assuming the answer is No. But if you do know of a way to achieve this, I'd be interested to hear it.
